Meet The Founders

Math & Music Makers was founded in 2008 by two moms who wanted their own children to have a different camp experience.  

“We wanted our kids to enjoy summer but also get some academics in as well, so we decided to create our own camp!”

Imani Thomas: Math Educator with over 20 years of experience teaching pre-school through High School Mathematics.

“Empowering students mathematically is my passion. I absolutely love helping students of all ages connect the dots AND gain exposure to the world of math!”

Tomaree Tarpley: Educator and Entrepreneur with an M.Ed in Early Childhood Special Education and accomplished vocalist and musician.

To foster a love of learning mathematics through a fun, musical application.

 

Math & Music Makers fuses math and music in creative ways, giving students a chance to gain knowledge, confidence and exposure to two important school topics.

Math is more than adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing numbers. It’s problem solving, critical thinking, spatial reasoning and so much more. Math concepts are used daily throughout our lives.

Music is all around us and studies show that music education facilitates achievement by boosting reading and language arts abilities, improving recall and retention skills and increasing math achievement. Unfortunately, music education is slowly but surely being removed from our public education system.

Math & Music Makers is creatively providing those fundamental learning opportunities in a format that is enjoyable to the students.
